The senior teams led the way for Thundersley Rovers this weekend with both Saturday and Sunday squads securing impressive wins.

Dean Shamshoum's senior team got the weekend off to a perfect start on Saturday afternoon with a 6-3 win away to Little Theatre Club - a victory that keeps Rovers within three points of Southend Borough Combination Division 3 leaders Christchurch, who maintined their 100 per cent record with a 2-1 win at Sceptre Elite.

And earlier today, Nigel Purkis' Sunday senior team made it two out of two for our adult teams this weekend with an impressive win away to fellow title-challengers Trinity FC.

Behind 2-1 at half time, Rovers produced one of their best 45 minutes of football this season to turn defeat into victory with two second half goals that secured a 3-2 win. The three points maintained Rovers' slender one point lead over second placed Beachboys at the top of the Sceptre League Division 1.

Following the cancellation of the under 8s fixture late on Saturday afternoon - and with the under 7s not in action - Ryan Scott-Douglas' under 10s were our only junior side to feature this weekend when they played host to South East Essex Primary League Division 1 title-contenders Hawkwell Athletic Lions.

Rovers took a deserved early lead through Kye Smith before conceding shortly ahead of half time, ensuring the game remained level at the break. But it was to be the visitors who left Thundersley Common with all three points after scored twice more in the second half, condemning Rovers to a 3-1 defeat.
